About the Challenge

What is it?
It’s a video challenge for Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Youth Groups (participants must be 13-18 years of age) to interpret Micah 6:8 “…to do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God.”

It sounds like fun, but what’s the “grand prize”?
The Presbyterian Foundation will establish an endowment fund for each of the three winning videos to benefit youth ministry at their local church. This fund will provide approximately $1,250 per year* for the youth group to use as they determine, now and for generations to come.
* Payout is based upon the current total return payment rate (spending formula) and is an example only. Actual payout will vary from year to year based upon investment returns.

Our youth group is ecumenical, supported by churches of five different denominations, including the PC(USA). Is our group eligible to compete in the ymiLIVE challenge?
When you register on the site, please be sure that the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Church that provides support to your youth group is named as the participating church. In the case that the video submitted by your youth group is voted one of the top three, the Presbyterian Church with which the group is affiliated would receive the distributions and be responsible for directing the funds to support the youth ministry of your ecumenical youth group.

How can I enter?
Open to all Presbyterian Youth Groups. The video must be submitted by the Youth Group Leader. Only one video per church may be submitted. If you are a student, talk to your Youth Group Leader about producing a video. If you are the Youth Group Leader, you can register here.

Our church has a youth group for middle school and one for high school. Do we enter two different videos?
The challenge is open to one video per church. This is the perfect opportunity for your groups to work together on the video challenge.

As a Youth Leader, I am very cautious of inviting my group to participate in an online community in light of safety concerns for our youth.  Has the "safety" issue been addressed?
We appreciate your concern about the safety of youth and have taken precautions by limiting personal information that is displayed, requiring parental consent for youth under the age of 13 to participate on the site, and monitoring of the Youth Group Page by the Youth Leader.

The public discussion forums will only display a handle or screen name for those participating.  The Youth Group page is for invited youth and friend only to view.  The Youth Leader is able to remove comments submitted on the bulletin board and accept or decline new friends to join their Group.
